This page explains what personal data we collect when you visit this site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us and a real person will answer.
Who we are
This site sells the ebook You Can Just Build Things, written by Lenny Wagner. Lenny is the person responsible for your data (the data controller). You can reach us at lenny@lennywagner.com.
What we collect and why
- Your email address, if you request the free sample. We use it to send you the two sample chapters and occasional updates about the book, and to let you know before the launch price goes back up. Legal basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe or ask for deletion at any time.
- Basic, aggregate analytics so we can see how the page performs (visits, referrers, rough device type). We use Umami, a privacy friendly, cookieless analytics tool that does not build a profile of you or track you across sites. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding traffic.
- Advertising measurement through the Meta Pixel, but only if you accept cookies. It helps us measure how our ads perform and reach similar people. This shares data with Meta. Legal basis: your consent. If you decline, the pixel never loads.
- Purchase details when you buy the book. Checkout runs on Polar, which processes your payment and billing information. We never see or store your card details.
Cookies and local storage
We do not set any advertising cookies unless you accept them in the banner. Here is everything the site can store:

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of the home page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent.
Who else processes your data
We keep the list of providers short and use reputable ones:
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores sample signups (its D1 database). Privacy policy
- Meta Platforms receives Meta Pixel data, only after you accept. Privacy policy
- Polar runs the checkout and payment. Privacy policy
- Umami provides cookieless analytics. Privacy policy
Some of these providers operate in the United States, so your data may be processed there under the safeguards described in their own policies.
How long we keep it
- Your email stays on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Analytics are aggregate and are not tied to you personally.
- Your cookie choice stays in your browser until you clear it or change it.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or EEA, the GDPR gives you the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive a copy, and withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these, email lenny@lennywagner.com and we will take care of it. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the Czech Republic, the Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů).

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
